Points Allocation
PURPOSE
The purpose of the point score is to identify and reward (with a trophy)
riders who have done well in races and attended regularly throughout the season.
There is a point score trophy for both men and women. Allocation of points
has varied slightly over the years as adjustments have been made to try and
ensure the most deserving person is the eventual winner.
HANDICAP RACES
As from the start of the 2008 winter season, points allocation will be:- 20
points for 1st place, 15 for 2nd, 12 for 3rd, 10 for 4th, 8 for 5th, 7 for
6th, 6 for 7th, 5 for 8th, 4 for 9th, 3 for 10th, then 2 points for all other
finishers. DNFs get 1 point. Fastest time gets a bonus of 5 points. Visitors
get 0 points.
GRADED SCRATCH RACES
As from the start of the 2008 winter season, races with 6 or more starters
in the grade, 10 points for 1st place in each grade, 8 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd,
4 for 4th, 3 for 5th, then 2 for all other finishers.For races with 5 starters,
8 points for 1st, 6 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th and 2 for 5th. For races
with 4 starters, 6 points for 1st, 4 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd and 2 for 4th. For
races wih 3 starters, 4 for 1st, 3 for 2nd and 2 for 3rd. For races with 2
starters 3 for 1st and 2 for 2nd. If there is only one starter, 2 points for
a finish. All DNFs get 1 point. There is no fastest time bonus. Visitors get
0 points.
TIME TRIALS
For Time Trials and events that segregate men and women, points are given
the same as for handicaps but the points allocation is applied to men and
women as if they were separate races. For an age standard time trial fastest
time for both men and women get 5 points bonus. If there are less than 10
starters, last place gets 2 points and the scale of points is applied in reverse
order up through the placings to the winner.
MULTIPLE RACE EVENTS
For events that include a series of races, only a single points allocation
towards the season point score is given to each rider. In the case of the
Gunning Two Stage Race overall position is based on cumulative time. For multiple
race events where cumulative times are not recorded, such as a criterium series
or the track championships, overall position is determined giving points for
each race based on finishing order and the number of riders in each group.
These points are only for the only purpose of determining placings in the
particular race series and are not included in the season point score. In
these events, if there is more than one rider with equal total points, overall
placings are decided by a count back of race finish order. This count back
process is also applied when necessary to separate track and road season point
score winners.
VISITORS
Visitors and non members are not given any points. Nor are they eligible to
receive a Trophy Race prize. As soon as such persons become fully financial
members, points will be given in the normal way.
OFFICIALS AND MARSHALLS
In order to encourage club members to act as marshalls or in some other official
capacity at races, each person performing such duties is awarded points up
to 3 times per race season. This allocation also ensures members who might
otherwise participate in a race are not penalised in the point score for volunteering
to assist.
The current allocation of points is; Race Director will receive
20 points and all other race marshals, assistants etc; 10 points for a maximum
of thee races.
CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Points are not allocated for the Club Championships. The Championships are
a separate, one off event and not part of the race season.
TRACK EVENTS
Track season pointscore is based on the 2 Lap Handicap which is run each week.
10 for 1st, 8 for 2nd, 6 for 3rd, 4 for 4th, 3 for 5th and 2 for 6th. All
other starters get 1 point and Race Director gets 10 points.
